Our Approach

How Bold Spaces works

1. We activate safe learning environments

Bold Spaces are established in schools, orphanages, IDP camps, and community centres. A 3-champion team, one facilitator and two supporting volunteers, leads each activation for groups of 10–50 adolescents.

2. We deploy interactive educational tools

Flashcards, comics, animations, and facilitation kits make learning engaging and accessible. Adolescents don’t sit and listen, they discuss, role-play, and practise recognising predatory behaviours in scenarios that reflect their real lives.

3. We train Bold Spaces Champions

Local youth leaders are trained through the Outreach Academy and equipped with the full Outreach Kit. They lead sessions in their own communities, return for monthly revisits, and ensure continuity long after the initial activation.

4. We engage parents and community leaders

Every Bold Space involves trusted adults. Parents, educators, and community leaders are brought into the conversation — creating a protective ecosystem around adolescents, not just a one-off session.

Bold Spaces Champions

The people who carry this work

Bold Spaces Champions are the dedicated volunteers trained to lead sexual grooming prevention sessions in schools and community settings. They are recruited from the communities they serve, trained through the Outreach Academy, and equipped with the full Outreach Kit. In 2025, champions executed 50 outreaches, 28 club activations and 29 revisits, with a 70% volunteer engagement rate and 63.6% rating the resources as very effective.

Every Champion is supported by TSO’s State Coordinators and the OYAL fellowship network. They are not temporary staff. They are community members with permanent skills and permanent resources.
