Catalysing Social Change Through Eduliftment

Hand-to-Mind is an integrated adolescent health and protection infrastructure, connecting education, product access, knowledge systems, and youth-led delivery into one framework for addressing the interconnected crises facing young people across Nigeria.

It is not a toolkit. It is an ecosystem. Four thematic areas. Two activated programmes. One integrated model built for self-replication and community ownership.

What is Eduliftment

Eduliftment is the conviction that education, when designed for participatory engagement rather than passive reception, becomes the mechanism through which communities lift themselves out of vulnerability. Not through external rescue. Through the activation of knowledge, agency, and local ownership.

Interactive, not instructive

Every tool provokes discussion, not lectures. Flashcards spark conversation. Comics model scenarios. Animations make complex topics accessible across literacy levels.

Self-replicating by design

Each intervention builds local capacity to create the next one. Girls trained at one Pad Station establish the next. Fellows train the next cohort. The model scales through people.

Hardest-to-reach first

IDP camps, prisons, rural schools are the primary design context, not an afterthought. Low-literacy, multilingual, low-connectivity environments come first.

Bold Spaces

Sexual Grooming Prevention

Equipping young people with the knowledge and language to recognise, resist, and report sexual grooming and cross-generational exploitation. Powered by interactive flashcards, comics, animations, and facilitation guides, developed in partnership with AMAZE and available in Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and Pidgin.

The Good Cycle

Menstrual Equity

Self-replicating Pad Stations in schools, IDP camps, and prisons where girls learn to produce reusable menstrual products, and establish new stations in their own communities. Each station is a permanent hub for product access, health education, and economic empowerment.

Child Marriage

Every girl deserves to determine her own timeline. Free Futures will address the cultural, economic, and social forces that push girls into early marriage — equipping communities with the tools to protect childhood and champion girls’ right to education, choice, and self-determination.

FGM & Harmful Traditional Practices

The body is sacred ground. Intact will challenge the cultural justifications for female genital mutilation through community-grounded education, faith-engaged dialogue, and youth-led advocacy, building on the pilot work already underway through our OYAL fellows in the FGM cluster.

Outreach Youth & Adolescent Lab

OYAL

Our youth fellowship programme. Young advocates recruited, trained, and deployed as programme delivery agents in their home communities. Each fellow reaches at least 1,000 adolescents.

A.G.E.N.C.Y

Volunteer Network

32 volunteers. 9 state coordinators. 8 states. The grassroots distribution network that carries Hand-to-Mind programmes to every corner of the country.

ARC

Our open-access digital platform housing every resource we create, animations, comics, flashcards, guides, storybooks. Free. Permanent. For educators and advocates across Africa.

The PERIOD. Initiative

Knowledge Infrastructure

The Period Dictionary, a comprehensive multilingual menstrual health knowledge platform with over 1,000 entries, developed with a global expert coalition called The Period Collective.

Training Platform

Our learning management system. Every volunteer, coordinator, and fellow is trained here before deployment, ensuring quality and consistency regardless of location.
